Foenus nauticum

Foenus nauticum (bodmerei) is the legal transaction which the captain of the ship on the voyage concludes with legal effect for the account and in the name of his shipowner if it is necessary for the performance of the voyage. The captain is not personally liable, but only with the ship and the cargo.
