Dr. iur. et Dr. phil. Marcel Lötscher, LL.M. MBA studied law at the Universities of St. Gallen (HSG) and Bern. His initial professional training saw him complete a commercial banking apprenticeship at a major Swiss bank. Marcel was admitted to the Lucerne bar and is a qualified mediator. He continued to study, becoming a Swiss Fund Officer FA/IAF and International Fund Officer FA. While working part-time, Marcel wrote a dissertation in the field of collective investment schemes and a second dissertation in economic history on the principles of Catholic investment. He also holds an Executive Master of Laws (LL.M.) in company, foundation and trust law awarded by the University of Liechtenstein, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management Competences awarded by the Danube University Krems and holds an VR-CAS HSG as a certified member of the board of directors.

His appointments to various leading positions in the financial sphere include his role as a member of executive management at a Swiss financial group. From 2012 to 2022, he was Head of the Asset Management and Markets Division and a member of the Executive Board of the Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein. The Asset Management and Markets division supervises asset management companies, funds and their management companies, approves bond prospectuses and is responsible for market-related supervisory issues. Marcel was a member of various expert groups in the fields of financial market law and regulation (including the ESMA Board of Supervisors, the European Regional Committee of IOSCO and the European Expert Group MSEG-SF) for over ten years. Marcel then worked for a global crypto asset exchange as Head of Regulatory Strategy (Europe). Since the summer of 2023, he has been offering corporate and legal advice through LAWCONSULT AG. Marcel also gives lectures and seminars on business law, regulation and compliance and regularly publishes on these topics.
