Aberratio ictus

A so-called misdirected blow is present if, without confusion of the object of attack, the preceding success is achieved by the interposition of circumstances which change the causal course presented, not on the primarily intended object, but on another object which is not intended, which possesses the same characteristics and would in itself be suitable for realizing the tortious act.
