Artwork

An artwork is defined as a unique, aesthetically successful product created by an artist. The format and image may be chosen freely. The quality of the artwork is publicly evaluated by art critics and art historians. Artworks are usually displayed in museums or galleries but may also be privately owned and therefore not open to public viewing. While art museums collect artworks in order to display them to the public, galleries are sales outlets which dispose of artworks to public or private collectors.
